The series of paintings “No Mercy” is a toxic painting mixture, painted by the artist between 2014 and 2015. These things are influenced by tattoos, the graffiti culture, comics, Japanese anime, floral motifs from the tapestries of urban citizens of the last century and texts from the urban environment, calling for violence, social strife and fetishism.
“This “low” aesthetic genuinely amused me and provoked a collaboration of images of fantasy and real life, instigating irony and humour. At the end of this “darkwave” all became full of mysticism, anaemia and precaution.” writes Boris Kolev – B.A.i.L.A.
Boris Kolev – B.A.i.L.A (1970) was born in Sofia, where he graduated from the National School of Fine Arts “Ilia Petrov” in 1989. In 1996, he graduated from the National Academy of Arts – with a degree in “Painting”. His paintings are owned by the Sofia City Art Gallery, the National Art Gallery, private collections in Bulgaria, Germany, the USA, Belgium, Canada, France, England, Turkey, Greece, Spain, Poland, American Embassy in Bulgaria, LITEX-CO INTERNATIONAL Collection, Collection “VBH-Poland”.
